Privacy Policy

This Privacy Policy explains how Actually (“we”, “us”, or “the App”) collects, uses, and shares information when you use the Actually iOS application and related services.

1. Information we collect

• Account information — such as your email address when you sign in (for example via Sign in with Apple, Google, or email), and an optional phone number if you enable two-step verification.
• Usage and entitlement data — subscription status, fact-check usage counts, and plan tier needed to operate the service.
• Fact-check content — claim text, transcripts, screenshots or screen stills, shared links, and the analysis results generated when you submit something to be fact-checked.
• Device permissions data — only when you grant access: speech recognition audio for transcription, microphone for screen-broadcast audio, photo library for temporary recordings or shared images, and notifications if enabled.
• Device identifier — a random per-install identifier used to apply free-usage limits and prevent abuse. It is not your Apple ID and is not used for advertising.
• Diagnostics — limited technical logs that help us fix crashes and reliability issues.

2. How we use information

• To provide fact-checking, transcription, subscriptions, history, and related App features.
• To process purchases and restore entitlements through Apple In-App Purchase.
• To enforce usage limits, improve reliability, prevent abuse, and support customer requests.
• To send optional notifications about fact-check results or product updates if you allow notifications.

3. Sharing

We may share information with service providers that help us operate the App — for example cloud infrastructure and authentication (Google Firebase) and the AI analysis providers described below. We do not sell your personal information. Apple processes App Store purchases under Apple's own privacy policy.

4. AI providers

To run a fact-check, the claim content you submit — which may include transcribed audio, on-screen text, screenshots, or a shared link — is sent to third-party AI providers that perform claim extraction and web-based verification, currently Google (Gemini) and xAI (Grok). This content is processed to produce your result. Do not submit sensitive personal information you would not want processed by these providers.

5. Screen recording and audio

When you start Actually Broadcast, the App captures the screen and app audio you choose to record for fact-checking. You control when broadcasting starts and stops. Recordings are used to analyze claims and are not intended to be kept longer than needed to provide the feature.

6. Data retention

We retain account, history, and entitlement data while your account is active and as needed to provide the service, comply with law, or resolve disputes. You may delete your account from within the App's Settings, which removes your profile and fact-check history.

7. Your choices

• You can deny optional permissions (such as notifications) in iOS Settings.
• You can manage or cancel subscriptions in iOS Settings → [your name] → Subscriptions.
• You can delete your account in the App, or contact us to request access, correction, or deletion of personal data we hold about you.

8. Children

The App is not directed to children under 13, and we do not knowingly collect personal information from children under 13.

9. International users

If you use the App from outside the United States, your information may be processed in the United States or other countries where our providers operate.

10. Changes

We may update this Privacy Policy from time to time. The “Last updated” date above will change when we do. Continued use of the App after an update means you accept the revised policy.
